The first post is always awkward

Welcome to "My Second Life".

Well, here we go. A blog.  You might have caught on to the title of the blog, as well as this post, that I am referring to SecondLife. If you're not familiar with it, then this blog won't make much sense to you.

 About me:

I was originally known on SecondLife (and going forward, you'll see SL most of the time) as Realm174 Uggla. Then, a few years back, SL changed their rules so we could have single word names instead of first name, last name. So I became Buttersnot.  I have been on SL since 2007, although I did take a break for a few years, and recently (Feb 2022) came back to it.

In my original tenure, I did a lot of going around, looking at a variety of places (from "Clubs" to builder's heaven where you can get tips and tricks on building your own stuff in SL. I was also a land owner/manager for a while, where I was renting small parcels of land in exchange for $L (the SL currency).

Then one day, this all came apart.  I was investing real money in SL, paying for land out of my pocket.  I had the land assign to the group I created.  One day, I decided to get rid of the group. I incorrectly assume that because I was the group owner, that anything in that group would end up under my name once the group was deleted. However, that's not what happened.  All of my land ended up back in Linden's hands. I had no access to re-create the group, or take the land back or anything.  A well seasoned player might say "Duh, well of course you lost everything, you were supposed to transfer stuff before deleting the group". Yep, you're right. Although a warning along the lines of "If you delete this group, you will lose everything it owns" would have been nice.  So I reached out to Linden, and to this day, 15 years later,  I never heard back.  So when I wasn't hearing anything back, I just removed my payment methods from SL and stopped going.

Then I came back very briefly a couple of years ago.  At the time, RL was quite busy, so I didn't stick around.  I was back for 2 weeks at most.  But now I'm back, and I have plans, which I'll elaborate on shortly.

I have a computer programming background. So I like to create stuff and watch them run.  It's a very rewarding art to be able to create something and see it come to life and grow.

About this blog:

What this is not, is a directory of cool locations to visit. Although, I did consider that, places come and go so fast that I can't be bothered to try and keep up with that.  Which is not to say that I would not put slurs (SecondLife URLs) on here from time to time, but just don't expect too much of that.

What you can expect to find here is thoughts, ideas, project descriptions, request for input, photography, that kind of things.

I hope you like it and come back from time to time.  I do have a few ideas that might provide some boost to your SL experience.  Ask me about the PhotoAlbum. (the name will change eventually, but for now, that's the name it has).

Until next time...
